With a time limit of 30 seconds per question, visitors quickly choose from multiple-choice answers to questions that test their knowledge about dust mite basics: where they live in your home, what they feed on, how they can affect your breathing, and how to control them. Anyone who answers all seven questions of the Dust Mite Quiz will receive a free ProDuster professional dusting tool - regardless of their score. The American Lung Association and ProTeam, manufacturer of state-of-the-art high-efficiency vacuum cleaners, have created a partnership focused on educating the public about improving their indoor air quality.
"Recent surveys indicate that Americans are not well aware of the dangers of poor indoor air quality, but it can have a major impact on individuals' breathing?particularly for people with chronic lung diseases such as asthma," said John L.
Kirkwood, President & CEO of the American Lung Association. Poor indoor air quality can cause short-term problems such as coughing, headaches and dizziness, and can contribute to and worsen chronic breathing problems.????
Dust mites can be a contributing factor to allergies and asthma in environments as varied as homes, hotels and healthcare facilities. Dust mites look like microscopic versions of ticks and spiders. They grow best where it is warm and humid and live on a diet of human skin particles found throughout homes?particularly in bedrooms.
To control dust mites, the American Lung Association suggests the following:
? Cover mattresses and pillows with airtight plastic or vinyl covers. ? Wash bedding in hot water (at least 130 degrees F). ? Remove stuffed animals from the bedroom. ? Remove upholstered furniture and fabric-covered items from the bedroom, use washable curtains and area rugs. ? Do not allow furry/feathered pets into the bedroom.
? Remove carpets, especially in the bedrooms and basement. ? Wet-mop floors. ? Vacuum regularly, using special allergen-controlling bags or machines. ? Clear any clutter that is likely to collect dust. ? Improve ventilation.
? Stop using humidifiers. ? Dehumidify and keep the humidity level below 60%. ? Place filters over heating vents. ? Use high efficiency air filters on heating ducts. ? Use air cleaners.

Snoring- a Small Change Can Make a Big Difference
We all know how annoying snoring can be, both for the snorer and the partner.
The effects and seriousness of snoring are becoming more apparent with snoring being linked to conditions like high blood pressure and coronary disease.
The different types of snoring, range from a simple puff to a full on roar and there isn't one school of thought on the reasons behind snoring.
Snoring, I believe, is a signal that the body's systems are out of balance.
Finding which system is the difficult part.
But correcting the balance may not take a huge change, take the example of Andy.Andy was in his late 30s and had snored for several years.
He's not quite sure when it started but of late the snoring had being a more regular event.
He probably still wouldn't be aware of it, except it drove his wife crazy.
Andy had always being active, not a football star but he liked to throw a ball around.
If you asked a passerby...
Effective Treatment For Fibromyalgia Patients
(ContentDesk) September 23, 2005 -- Fibromyalgia is a perplexing disorder that has just begun to make itself known in the medical community. Because of its wide range of symptoms and often intermittent nature, little is known about effective treatments for the condition, but there is evidence that something as simple as a memory foam mattress or topper can help some FMS patients. www.sleepaidfactory.comFibromyalgia is characterized by widespread, sometimes debilitating pain in muscles, tendons and other fibrous tissues. Other symptoms may include an overwhelming feeling of fatigue, and difficulty with concentration and complex mental tasks, sometimes referred to as "fibro-fog." As the medical community struggles to learn more about FMS, and to separate it from similar disorders like chronic fatigue syndrome, patients have been left largely to their own devices for treatment.Through experimentation,...

Keep your house move hassle-free: seven essential tips
I've always been a bit of a nomad and with 20 moves in 25 years, I've learned a thing or two about moving myself and my stuff from place to place. Here are seven steps you can take to make move day go smoothly.1. Upstairs, downstairsEverything you move has to go through your front door, so it makes sense to have your belongings as close to the departure point as possible. That means getting all boxes and items down from the loft/attic (or up from the basement/cellar) before moving day. Most of the stuff in there you don't use every day anyway and can well do without for a few weeks.
Put the boxes in room you can do without for a while and stack them three or four high, big boxes at the base, small ones at the top. (After all, you don't want anything to fall on you>)2. Clear the clutterWhen you're moving things out of the loft/attic or basement/cellar, take the chance to clear out anything you haven't needed in the last two years. Why move what you don't need? The same goes for...
